My personal edit of Sonic the Hedgehog by Claymizer that I decided to release.

Remembering back, this was the very first Sonic that I ever came across for M.U.G.E.N. I was surfing around on the mugen wikia when I ended up coming across this version of Sonic and was impressed by the spritework. I downloaded him in excitement and when I finally booted him up to try out.... well... I'll be honest... I was not a fan of the way he played at all. He had extremely easy infinites, unbalanced frame data, weird or overtuned hitboxes, many errors with his collisions which could cause crashing, etc. I don't mean this with any shade to the original author at all as I can understand how hard it can be to draw sprites and do coding and whatnot, but I was disappointed with how he played overall. Even though there were other great options for one who was looking for a MvC styled Sonic (G.knux19 and diegosonic81's versions for example), I've always wanted to see a Sonic in MvC style with these sprites being used.

So finally, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make the adjustments for myself. After making said adjustments and posting it to the MUGEN ARCHIVE, I felt satisfied for a while. However, since I gained much more knowledge over the time, I decided to go back and redo my edit of this version of Sonic and this is the result. Hopefully, this version of Sonic is much more balanced than before and most importantly, fun to play as (I have fun with him, but hopefully you all will).

What was changed/added (as much as I can remember)?:

- Created a new move list.



- The Sonic Ballet has been incorporated as his Air Dash. It's not multi-directional like in Sonic Battle or 2-way like ABAB's or diegosonic81's Male Sonic (I thought about making it 2-way but decided to just make it forward only). 



- He now can wall jump. May not look too great but I made best with what was available in the sprites.



- He can combo MUCH better than before now. You can smoothly link normals into each other.



- Overall frame data, hitbox, priority, and other balance changes.



- Now has advancing guard and recovery rolls.



- A more proper teching system. When hitstun is over, he'll actually tech instead of just remaining in the falling animation until you press two buttons.



- Just overall system changes in general.



- Added several new attacks like the Drop Dash, Sonic Drive, Super Sonic Spin Attack, Sonic Wave, etc.



- Changed the way that Homing Attack and Spin Dash function. They work much closer to how they do in Super Smash Bros.



- Super Sonic is now a level 3 Hyper Combo instead of a level 1 (was really weird that it was a level 1 in the first place) and functions the same as the Super Sonic Hyper in SeanAlty's CvTW Sonic. It can also be performed in the air now, making it rather unique when compared to most level 3's.



- Changed the animation for standing heavy kick.



- His crouching heavy kick is now his previous standing heavy kick.



- His crouching heavy punch animation is now his previous crouching heavy kick animation.



- His air heavy punch is now just his classic spin attack from the original 1991 game and onwards.



- He has proper throws now and they can be teched.



- A damage dampener was added.



- New hitsparks and guardsparks were added.



- Replaced the original Hyper background with a dark screen and bright flash.



- His stats and physics have been changed. Most noticeable is now he walks slower and has less health.



- Tweaked his intros.



- The speed at which he spins while jumping is different depending if you jump while standing, walking, or running like in the classic titles.



- Changed and added more voice clips and sounds.



- Made it easier to switch voices. Just go into the def and uncomment the semicolon (;) on the one you want.



- Improved animation overall.



- Increased juggle points to 20.



- Changed the stand animation. If Sonic hasn't moved for 298 frames, he transfers to his other stand animation (where he puts his hands on his hips) and remains in it.



- Has a new taunt (Forward + Start).



- Fixed the double jumping.



- Changed portraits



- Reorganized his files and text docs.

What was removed (as much as I can remember)?:

- Dark Super Sonic Hyper. This was scrapped because it doesn't make sense. As cool as Dark Super Sonic is, he isn't canon and it would just be weird to have him transform into that state (Also, it was a raging demon type of move, which is out of character for Sonic). Basically, I wanted to keep Sonic in line with the game canon.



- Shadow the Hedgehog assist. At first, I kept it functioning as is but increased the time that you had to wait until you could call him but ended up scrapping that idea. After thinking more about what kind of move that it is, I thought to have it as a hyper combo, but decided against it and just scrapped it in general. Maybe I'll bring it back but no promises...



- Foot Storm Special. Removed it cause Sonic wouldn't do a rapid attack in that manner. If he were, it would be more in a manner like his light speed attack (he spins back in forth rapidly in multiple directions around the opponent).



- Super Wind Hyper. Got rid of this hyper and replaced it with Blue Tornado instead as it is much more visually pleasing and just made more sense from a design standpoint.



- MvC Sonic Spin Attack. I just changed the animation and how the move functioned to be more like his spin attack in the games.



- Sonic V1 Air Heavy Punch. This move just looked... weird. Sonic wouldn't do an attack like this so I scrapped it.



- Ring Toss Special. I was going to have it function as it did in the original, but since he now has Sonic Wave for a projectile, I decided to scrap it and use the sprites to create Sonic Drive instead. It's better than just having him throw a ring like a hadouken anyway.



- MvC Sonic Spindash. Replaced this move with Spin Charge which functions somewhat similarly.
